FINANCIAL BUDGET

This program exposes the risk of college credit card debt. Youth are learning the importance of budgeting, managing, and saving for their future. As well as, mutual funds, 401k, etc.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

This program educates youth about proper hygiene, health education, physical activity, and good eating habits. The importance of health is a dynamic process because it is constantly changing. Therefore, empowering youth to

exercise and develop healthy eating choices enhance the quality of life expectancy, mind, body, and soul as well as improve ones attitude.

PARENTING

This program educate the female youth of the negative and positive outcomes of teen pregnancy. We teach them that the main goal of parenting is a partnership, it takes hard-work, patience, effective discipline and positive communication. Marriage is the key to effective parenting.

This program strives to diverse youth by exposing them to all walks of life though theater, arts, dance, music, food, and places etc.

OPEN MIC NIGHT

This program engages youth to express their inner gifts. The youth are very talented creating with songs, poetry, and comedy. This helps towards the realization of their dreams.

This program gives youth a choice to participate in an activity of their heart's desire. E.g. gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, tennis, volleyball, violin, skating karate, etc.

SOCIAL BONDING

This program is a drug risk education platform. The fight to recovery is ongoing and a lifetime practice and therefore it does not have to be accomplished alone. DIYC is dedicated to youth who are in need of recovery, treatment, and crisis intervention to maintain their sobriety and continue to accept a lifetime treatment.  

This program is designed to motivate youth about their future. They learn work ethics, work habits, how to write resumes, and learn interview techniques so they can become more engaged in today's workforce.

This program helps to support public anxiety, social functioning deviations in youth. It leads them to perform more positively and feel confident around others. They learn new skills to cope in groups,  with life’s daily stresses and challenges.

POINT SYSTEM

This program is designed to help individuals, group and family. Seeing people who have the same experiences help individuals understand

that  what they are going through is widespread

and they are not alone. The goals of our group counseling is to build cohesion, gain trust, interpersonal skills, remove blame, guilt, shame, and judgement so that they can forgive themselves and move forward.   

This program provides a one on one relationship with youth who are less fortunate. Our mentors are influential, positive leaders, role models and a constructive

forcein the life of our youth. Mentors have a transformative impact on young people.

This program rewards youth through a points system. Daily points are accumulated for positive behavior, school performance, rule compliance, chores, etc. When satisfactory points are earned residents earn allowance, extra privileges, such as, bowling, movies and dinner night outings.

COMMUNITY

ENGAGEMENT

This program aims to increase the attainment of functional replacement skills while,

reducing events of behaviors that interfere with a person’s capability to successfully function in their every day activities. Emotional and behavioral concerns that are addressed include, but are not limited to; attachment issues, (PTSD) Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder, (ADHD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, eating disorder, conduct disorder, defiant behavior, mood disorders etc.

Many youth have a desire to go to college but never have the opportunity to fulfill that goal due to lack of financial asset or scholarship stipulation and requirements. Therefore, upon successfully transitioning out of D.I.Y.C.  Our scholarship program offers a full ride scholarship with financial need to those who seek to attend college at a four-year accredited university of their choice with no stipulations. The scholarships are intended to cover room and board, books, tuition etc.

This program helps youth give back. The different forms of community activities we have are community service, civic activism, and youth leadership. Through community service youth develop a sense of pride, self-esteem, and learn hands on skills. Through youth leadership they learn to become role models, and improve the lives of others. Through civic activism youth are empowered to have opinions, ideas, and interest to help them understand experiences and the community so they can become our future politicians. We help youth build social and interpersonal skills, youth confidence, positive self-identity and dignity. The overall mission is to ensure our youth become universal and diversified because it will prepare them for a solidified future.
